MARKUS JÄNTTI "I.M.J.J – IT'S THE MOST MARVELLOUS JOY"

  • VAERK, København Jægersborggade 49 København N, 2200 Denmark (map)

Press release, september 2017

VAERK is proud to present the exhibition IMMJ - It’s the Most Marvellous Joy by the Finnish artist Markus Jäntti studying at the UdK Berlin (1994, Hyvinkää, Finland).

Mysteriously organic figures formed in gaudy and strong colours populate the paintings, prints and sculptural arrangements by Markus Jäntti. The pieces will be presented on various scenes with alternating medias. Jäntti is inspired by the interview “In Praise of Love” with Alain Badiou, where love and passion in the present day is being illuminated and unfolded. To Jäntti’s characters, the platonic form of love allows us to reflect upon the world together with someone or several people to exchange views; it appears to be of a greater value than the physical one. Despite the differences of the family members, they still get together throwing parties or go on trips together. The pictures demonstrate all the activities of the sculptures “patchwork family”.

Opening: The 30th of September, 2017 from 3pm - 6pm.
