METAMORPHOSIS – THE EGGS, CATERPILLAR, CHRYSALIS
Metamorphosis is a constantly moving exhibition platform for young upcoming artists, focusing on queer, trans and bipoc artists. 🦋✨🐛
With metamorphosis we are trying to create an exhibition platform that focuses on more sustainable and caring ways of working with art, inspired by Tian Zhangs "A Manifesto for radical care and how to be a human in the arts".
METAMORPHOSIS – Caterpillar
We had our first ever exhibition/launch event on the 12th of May at Kapelvej 44 in Copenhagen, titled “I feel safe inside my Puppa”. The general ongoing theme of the platform is butterflies and their life cycles.
The first exhibition was based around the chrysalis/pupa stage of the butterflies life, where the butterfly forms a chrysalis, their bodies break down into a soup, also called molting, and then after some time they start metamorphosizing. Each exhibition will be based around a different stage of the life cycle and will be happening every third month, as a three day pop up exhibition in different locations around Copenhagen.
The exhibiting artists are either invited to join the exhibition or found by applying to the open call, that comes out prior to each exhibition.
The exhibiting artists for "i feel safe inside my puppa" was:

We are trying to make way for new ways of creating exhibitions.
Turning the exhibition space into a sanctuary for our communities.
Making them accessible, creating space for new ways of thinking, for rest and for healing.
Focusing on the importance of collectivity and creating together.
Creating spaces where we can sit and soak, be soft and submerged in the art and come back re-energized and ready to combat whatever comes our way.
Last but not least a big thank you to all the artists and everyone who helped make this exhibition happen: Fragment Radio, Kapelvej 44, Lisbeth, Asbjørn, Sophus, Askan, Andi, Frida, Ditte, Sidsel, Malik and Tian Zhang.
We wouldn't have been able to do this without your help. ❤️
