Sankt Hansine is an art festival hosted by the artist-run gallery Vi Lever PÅ Polsk: Magda Buczek and Bartek Arobal Kociemba. Hosted one day after Midsummer's Day it is a celebration of Sankt Hans bonfire gatherings.
Addressing that tradition the organizers challenge to invert the gender focus of its traditional patron and explore the notions of hospitality, rituals, festiveness of season change, and togetherness.
The Programme:
3pm–6pm:
Community table with a flower-crown workshop led by a Ukrainian folk artist and florist Olesia Polyko (UKR/DK). Olesia will present a craft of flower binds learned from her Grandmother.
Art talk by Karolina Grzywnowicz (PL/GER). The artist will talk about her projects concerning plant postcolonial politics and landscape storytelling.
Performative poetry reading by Boris Peianov.
7pm:
Piano performance by Kristoffer Hyldig (DK)
8 pm:
Fire Ritual – a signature performance of the VLP team, focused on practicing societal compassion through ritual and creative writing.
9pm:
Dance party.
VLP will also present visual artworks by Olivia Rhode Hvass (DK), Boris Peianov (RO/ DK), and Bartek Arobal Kociemba (PL/DK). The works can be also seen by appointment in the days 26-28th June.
Opening: 24th June, Saturday, 2023. From 3pm until 1am.
Exhibition period: 26-28 June. Open by appointment.
