Tørreloft presents All the things that make us blurry, a dialogue in the form of an exhibition by Elisabeth Molin and Bernd Oppl.
Elisabeth Molin combines two distinct components. The work while we sleep sharks swim between your ear and mine refer to the rituals we perform in and around screens. The installation is built out of materials excavated from, and found within, dead screens such as fresnel lenses, plasma, glass and reflectors. They act like ruins in a digital graveyard, where offerings in the form of pigments, thorns and pain killers temporarily inhabit, enlighten and rot alongside them. Her second work all.the.time is a video montage where time is marked in pulses, glitches, fades and evaporations.

Bernd Oppl’s Phantom Power is based on field recordings of optical instruments played on a tape recorder. Cameras, scanners, electric microscopes and enlargers are examined for their auditory qualities and serve as the basis for a composition. As the information on the tape disappears over time, the flickering of the red neon light attached to it fades as well. His work Darkroom is a 3D reproduction of an architectural space in transition, and on the verge of disappearing. It zooms in on the apparatuses, liquid containers and chemical tanks that make up the analog production of vision.
