Fra den anden side af havet har Oscar Yran udviklet værker om fiktioner, fakta og alt derimellem.
I en fjern fremtid vil genetisk psykoindoktrinerede Ultra Mariner herske over galaksen. Det værdifulde pigment, der ekstraheres fra Lapis Lazuli-stenen, er grundelementet i Ultra Marinernes monokrome kraftpanser. Det er en almindelig misforståelse at navnet Ultra Marine (fra den anden side af havet) stammer fra disse supersoldater, hvis ankomst til fjerne kyster bringer død og ødelæggelse. Navnet stammer faktisk fra produktionen af pigmenter og fra den måde hvorpå de blev transporteret over havet fra Afghanistan til Italien i det 14. og 15. århundrede.

I den nære fortid er det samme pigment blevet smurt ud på nøgne kvindekroppe, hvorefter de blev rullet rundt på gulvet til stor fornøjelse for kunstverdenen. I dette øjeblik er produktionen af ultramarine pigmenter ved at blive fuldstændig syntetisk. Militser kontrollerer lapis lazuli minerne i Badakhshan, Afghanistan, og stenene smugles ud og sælges på det sorte marked.

Blå, og dets materielle komponenter, navne og myter er udgangspunktet for Oscar Yrans arbejde på OK Corral. Kunstneren ønsker i denne udstilling at undersøge, hvordan kulturelle udtryk influerer på nationale identiteter og ejerskaber over specifikke stilarter, teknikker og materialer. Eksempelvis fransk ultramarin, preussisk blå, Paris blå, Berlin blå, egyptisk blå etc. Igennem en række skulpturer og træsnit konfronteres den blå mytologi igennem et eurocentrisk perspektiv.

Oscar Yran (f. 1990, NO) er uddannet fra det Fynske Kunstakademi i 2017 og arbejder i en lang række forskellige teknikker. Hans arbejde drejer sig om kunst, håndværk og produktion.
Oscar har senest udstillet på Start Point Prize, Prag National Museum of Art, Luther, Vejle kunstmuseum, Japan Print Society Kansai Branch, Kyoto og Organon, Odense.

From beyond the sea, Oscar Yran has developed works regarding fictions, factions and facts.
In a distant future gene-seeded and genetically, psycho-indoctrinated Ultra Marines rule the galaxy. The valuable pigment extracted from the Lapis Lazuli stone, is used for the Ultra Marines monochrome power armour. It's common misbelieve that Ultra Marine (beyond the sea) derives from these super soldiers arriving at distant shores, bringing death and destruction. The name is from the production of pigments and how they where transported over the sea from Afghanistan to Italy in the 14th and 15th century.
In the recent past the very same pigment was used to smear the bodies of naked ladies, who where then thrown around on the floor, to the great amusement of the art world. In this very moment the ultramarine pigment production is on the verge of going fully synthetic. Militias control the lapis lazuli mines in Badakhshan, Afghanistan and the stones are smuggled out and sold on the black market.
Blue and its material components, names and myths is the starting point of Oscar Yrans work at OK Corral. The artist wishes to explore how cultural expressions relate to national identities and ownership of specific styles, techniques or material. Eg. French Ultramarine, Prussian blue, Paris blue, Berlin blue, Egyptian Blue etc. Several sculptures and woodblock prints confront the blue mythos, through a Eurocentric perspective.

Oscar Yran (1990, NO) is educated from the Funen Art Academy in 2017 and works in a multitude of techniques. His ideas revolve around art, craft and production.
Oscar has lately exhibited at; Start Point Prize, Prag National Museum of Art, Luther, Vejle kunstmuseum, Japan Print Society Kansai Branch, Kyoto and Organon, Odense.
