To fall, drop down, descend, go down, sink, fall down, fall over, collapse, fall back, decrease, decline, fall off, drop off, crash, deteriorate, degenerate, surrender, submit, give up, succumb, be overthrown by, be defeated by, fall victim to, fall into depression, go downhill, decay, fade, fall from a cliff, be killed, kill yourself, die.

Are we emotionally indoctrinated?

Falling in love as a metaphor highlights that the process, like the physical act of falling due to gravity, is abrupt, uncontrollable and leaves the lover in a vulnerable state, similar to "falling ill" or "falling into a trap”. From such a perspective it seems like we are cursed and predestined to fail.

As an omnipresent phenomenon, love possesses the capacity to hack its way into every little possible crack. It has its own will as an embodiment of control hijacking the possessor.

It is personal, public, political and powerful.

Across popular culture and language, the definition of love has been distorted into a banal and meaningless concept beyond recognition to a state of dissolvement. It sits on a pedestal made of thick layers of archaic and modern archetypes that arbitrarily gamble with our fate to flourish or demolish.

Cathexis derives from the Greek word κάθεξις and is translated as holding, retention, possession and retentive power. “Cathexis is the concentration of mental energy on one particular person, idea, or object (especially to an unhealthy degree)” – Google search.

This exhibition consists of a series of sculptures, video, installation, CGI animation, sound and a poem-collage inspired by the lyrics of the top-5 Britney Spears heartbreaking songs.
