Det er med stor glæde, at vi inviterer til åbning af udstillingen Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 af Jen Liu.
Med udstillingen præsenterer ARIEL en videoinstallation af den New York baserede billedkunstner Jen Liu. Videoværket Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 er nyeste del af den flerårige værkserie Pink Slime Caesar Shift af Liu. Værkserien udfoldes i skiftende medier og udforsker temaer som; alternative og udvidede former for aktivistiske netværk, tematiske overlap i videnskabelige, arkiverede og genanvendte tekster og billeder, spekulativ græsrods-bioteknologi og en gennemgribende æstetik af syntetisk, giftig, samtids-femininitet. Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 vises i udstillingsperioden episodisk. Del 1: Welcome to the Circular Economy (12.06-26.06), Del 2: Collective Disappearance (27.06-10.07), Del 3: Strong Water (11.07-26.07). Vi byder ind til et glas vin 17-20 fredag d. 12. juni ved Kvindernes Bygning, Niels Hemmingsens Gade 8-10.
Jen Liu er bosat i New York og Vermont. Gennem video/ animation, koreografi, biomateriale, og maleri udforsker hun national identitet, kønsliggjorte økonomier, neoliberalt industriarbejde, og genbevægelsen af arkiv genstande. Hun modtog i 2019 Creative Capital Award, 2018 LACMA Art + Technology Lab grant, og i 2017 Guggenheim Fellowship i Film/Video og har udstillet på The Whitney Museum, MoMA, The New Museum, New York; Smithsonian American Art Museum, DC; Royal Academy og ICA, London; Kunsthaus Zurich; Kunsthalle Wien; the Aspen Museum of Art; Henry Art Gallery, Seattle; MUSAC, Leon; UCCA og A07 @ 798, Beijing; og medvirket til 2014 Shanghai Biennale og 2019 Singapore Biennale.

ARI. Readings er en serie af arrangementer, hvor vi læser uddrag af den litteratur, som har inspireret og dannet udgangspunkt for kunstneres research. Dele af monologen i Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 stammer fra A Better Life For The Workers; en publikation, som er skrevet af kvindelige arbejdere til kvindelige arbejdere, oprindeligt udarbejdet og udgivet på kinesisk i slutningen af det 20. århundrede. Bogværket består i sin helhed af to volumener, og er en informativ manual, der beskriver, såvel som behandler psykologiske og politiske problematikker, som former det moderne arbejdsliv i Kina. A Better Life For The Workers er oversat til engelsk af Jen Lius egen mor og vil samme med Voice-over script for Gold Loop, 2020, være den litteratur, som vi vil læse til ARI. ARIEL - FEMINISMS IN THE AESTHETICS
ARIEL er en platform for udvikling og formidling af nyskabende udstillinger af høj kunstnerisk kvalitet, centreret omkring nye forgreninger af feminismer i det æstetiske felt. Ved innovativt at fremme kunstnerisk forskning søger projektet at udvide og nuancere forståelsesrammen for det feministiske felt i dag og skabe en kontaktflade, hvor en bred vifte af emner kan tilgås. Initiativet er nordisk og internationalt orienteret med et langsigtet perspektiv på at forgrene sig ud i nye samarbejder, kontekster og situationer.
ARIEL er initieret af Nina Wöhlk, og ledet samt kurateret i samarbejde med Karen Vestergaard Andersen.
Vi sigter efter at have en bæredygtig drift. Derfor prioriteres bl.a. landtransport frem for flytransport, når kunstnere fra europæiske lande deltager. ARIELs udstillingsplatform befinder sig i Kvindernes Bygning, hvor der eksisterer et fælles ønske om at bidrage til den offentlige debat og at samle et tværfagligt miljø omkring sig. ARIEL – Feminisms in The Aesthetics er understøttet af og startet i samarbejde med Kvindernes Bygning. Her har ARIELs udstillingsplatform til huse i bygningens stueetage, hvor et varieret udstillingsprogram er tilgængeligt for offentligheden og kan ses 24/7 fra gadeplan.
ARIEL ønsker at bygge videre på det skelsættende arbejde Kvindernes Bygning har foretaget. Hensigten er både at bidrage til den offentlige debat og samle et tværfagligt miljø, der afspejler og støtter op om de mange initiativer og foreninger, der har til huse i bygningen såsom Dansk Kvindesamfund, Interkulturelt Kvinde Råd, Kvindelige Kunstneres Samfund, Kvinderådet, Kvinder i Musik, Folkevirke og KFUK´s Sociale Arbejde. Initiativet til Kvindernes Bygning blev til på baggrund af Kvindernes Udstilling i 1895. Selve bygningen blev tegnet af den kvindelige arkitekt Ragna Grubb og indviet i 1936.

ARIEL presents Gold Loop (Triad), 2020, a video installation by New York based visual artist Jen Liu.
Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 is the newest part of Liu’s multiannual body of work Pink Slime Caesar Shift. The multi-media work series explores themes of alternative and expanded activist networks, thematic convergences of scientific, archival, and repurposed texts and images, speculative grassroots biotech, and an aesthetics of synthetic, mutated, contemporary femininity. Throughout the exhibition period Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 will be shown episodically. Part 1: Welcome to the Circular Economy (12.06-26.06), Part 2: Collective Disappearance (27.06-10.07), Part 3: Strong Water (11.07-26.07). We invite you for a glass of wine from 5 - 8pm Friday June 12th at Kvindernes Bygning, Niels Hemmingsens Gade 8-10.

ARI. Readings is a series of events oriented towards literature as communication and a vital part of artists’ research. Part of the monologue in Gold Loop (Triad), 2020 stems from the publication A Better Life For The Workers, written by female workers to female workers, originally formulated and published in Chinese in the late 20th century. The publication is comprised of two volumes and is an informative manual describing and dealing with psychological and political issues shaping worklife in modern China. A Better Life For The Workers is translated to English by Jen Liu's mother and, together with excerpts from the Voice-over script to Gold Loop (Triad), 2020, it will be the literature for this ARI. Readings 4#.

ARIEL - FEMINISMS IN THE AESTHETICS
ARIEL is a platform and interface for the development and dissemination of exhibitions of high artistic quality, centered on new ramifications of feminism in the aesthetic field. Through an innovative facilitation of artistic research, the project seeks to expand and nuance the framework of understanding of the field of feminism and to create a contact area where the topics can be accessed. The initiative is Nordic and internationally oriented with a long-term perspective on branching out into new collaborations, contexts and situations. ARIEL is initiated by Nina Wöhlk, and co- run and curated together with Karen Vestergaard Andersen. We aim to operate sustainably. Therefore, priority is given to land transport rather than air transport when artists are participating from the European countries.
ARIEL – Feminisms in Aesthetics is supported by and started in collaboration with the Women’s Building. ARIEL’s exhibition platform is housed in the building’s ground floor, where a varying exhibition program is available to the public and can be viewed 24/7 from street level. ARIEL wishes to build on the groundbreaking work done by the Women’s Building, with which it has joined hands in order to contribute to the public debate and to assemble a multidisciplinary environment that can reflect and support the many initiatives and organizations in the building: Danish Women’s Society, Intercultural Women’s Council, Women’s Artists’ Society, Women’s Council, Women in Music, Folkevirke and KFUK’s Social Work. The Women’s Building was initiated on the basis of The Women’s Exhibition in 1895. The building was designed by the female architect Ragna Grubb and inaugurated in 1936.
