Wiehler’s tapestries then and now er en udstilling af den serbiske billedkunstner og tekstildesigner Daliborka Djuric og består af de to værker NOFILTER og We are all one, aren’t we? Værkerne blander billedkunst og traditionelt håndarbejde og udfordrer håndværkets kønnede hierarkier via. Wiehler’s gobeliner som bruges som pyntegenstande i hjemmet og er typisk broderet af kvinder.
I NOFILTER forandrer og dekonstruerer Djuric gobelinen ved at tilføje et enhjørningehorn på en hest og lave ferskner om til æbler, og det idylliske englandskab flyder over med våben og bomber i form af børneklistermærker. NOFILTER sætter spørgsmålstegn ved vores kønnede associationer, fordomme og værdier. I We are all one, aren’t we? har Djuric ændret engle til bedende børn og tilføjet en baggrund af øjeklistermærker, som holder øje med både de broderede børn og den, som betragter dem. Børnene er del op vertikalt og horisontalt i køns- og hudfarvekategorier men forenes af de ens enhjørningehalskæder.

Daliborka Djuric (f. 1972) er kunstner og tekstildesigner med base i Beograd, Serbien. Hun er uddannet fra Faculty of Applied Arts i Beograd i 2003 med kandidatafhandlingen Figuration i Billedvævning.
Kurateret og organiseret af RUM два (dva) i samarbejde med KØN. RUM два (dva) er et kunstnerdrevet initiativ, som forsøger at skabe en mere direkte forbindelse mellem den nordiske og Balkans kunstscene.

Wiehler’s tapestries then and now is a solo exhibition by Serbian visual artist and textile designer Daliborka Djuric. It consists of two works: NOFILTER and We are all one, aren’t we? The works blends visual art and traditional crafts and challenges the gendered hierarchies of the created. Wiehler’s tapestry is known as a decorative object in the home, typically embroidered by women.
In NOFILTER Djuric amends and deconstructs the tapestry by adding a unicorn horn to the horse and turning peaches into apples, and the idyllic landscape of the meadow overflows with guns and bombs in the form of children’s stickers. NOFILTER questions our gendered associations, prejudices, and values.
In We are all one, aren’t we?, Djuric has made angels into praying children and added a background of eye stickers that watch over the embroidered children and the viewer. The children are divided vertically and horizontally in categories of gender and skin color but united by their unicorn necklaces.

Daliborka Djuric (b. 1972) is an artist and textile designer who lives and works in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2003 she got an MA in Figuration in the Field of Tapestry from The Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Curated and organized by RUM два in collaboration with KØN. RUM два is an artist-run initiative trying to create a more direct connection between the Nordic and the Balkans art scene.
