AALBORG ARTIST’S ASSOCIATION (AAAA) & LÍM COLLECTIVE "THE DEPARTMENT OF CCCC"

  • Tilgang / Huset i Hasserisgade, Aalborg Hasserisgade 10 Aalborg, 9000 Denmark (map)

Press release, November 2022

Welcome to The Department of CCCC, a collaborative project by Aalborg Artist’s Association (AAAA) and lím collective in Aalborg. During the project period The Department of CCCC will reconfigure the exhibition space Tilgang at Huset i Hasserisgade into a site for cultural activism, presented as a series of resources for engaging with Culture, Care, Commoning, and Critique.

By reformulating the exhibition space into a space for artworkers, the project wishes to explore new ways of dealing with current artistic labour politics in order to improve working conditions for artists and artworkers. Highlighting the shifting boundaries between public and personal, The Department of CCCC creates a temporary collective platform to make visible the organising labour that usually takes place within individual artist studios and homes. The project’s programme features a wave of practical, social and emotional tools consisting of healing movement workshops, communal dinners, frustration walks, film screenings, and meetings that can help deal with institutional barriers, occupational health, and resource sharing within the context of the contemporary art sector.

Project period: 8 - 24 November, 2022.
Opening hours: Mon-fri: 12-8 pm (Also open during Huset’s weekend hours).

The Department of CCCC is kindly supported by Aalborg Municipality, Huset i Hasserisgade, and The Danish Arts Foundation. A special thank you to Arctic Street Food, Casa Anne Maries Vej, f.eks., The Greenlandic House, Husets Café, Nikolaj Legaard, and Trekanten.

Aalborg Artist’s Association (AAAA) is a hybrid non-profit organisation and collective artist-run initiative. Founded in 2019, it is based in Aalborg, Denmark. AAAA focuses on creating better economic, social, and political circumstances for contemporary artists.

lím collective is a new experimental platform in Northern Jutland dedicated to exploring alliances between contemporary artistic practice, health, and care. Through collaborative moments, artist residencies, talks, and temporary happenings in the health and social sector, the platform explores how artists can work alongside local communities to create new sustainable modes of socially engaged art.
