A VIDEO INTERVIEW WITH ANDREA WAN

One week ago, on thursday the 21st of November 2013, we opened Hong Kong-born, Berlin-based illustrator Andrea Wan’s very first solo show, within the borders of Denmark. Her wonderful, dreamy and slightly surreal univers is now covering the walls of our space; I DO ART Lab, and the works continues to amaze us on a daily basis.

In her latest works Andrea focusses on modern means of communication and our relationship to the past. With her signature style of bright pastels, an amazing visual vocabulary and colorful patterns Andrea communicates own experiences and aspects of herself in a dream-like fashion. Themes like travelling and immigration are very common in her works given that her life, so far, have brought her through such diverse cultures as China, Canada, Denmark and now Berlin. For further reading about Andrea’s life and work, you can check out the article we did when we visited her at her studio in Berlin this summer.

From last tuesday and until saturday Andrea visited us here in Aarhus and during these days we decided to do a video with her in the process of setting up her very first solo show in Denmark and let her explain some of her thoughts behind the works. We hope you’ll enjoy it. If you are in Aarhus do swing by to get the full experience of the exhibition “Works by Andrea Wan“. The exhibtion runs until the 7th of December 2013, in I DO ART Lab, Mejlgade 48A, DK-8000 Aarhus C.

I DO ART Lab (1. august 2013 - 1. august 2014) var en midlertidig udstillingsplatform, i Mejlgade i Aarhus, styret af idoart.dk's redaktørere Rikke Luna & Matias.
