Foreningen 51 Cth har glæden af at invitere til et open studio med Paulina Mellado. Dette markerer slutningen på et seks uger langt residency-ophold. Paulina vil holde et oplæg om sin praksis ca. kl. 15.30, og der vil være lidt at spise og drikke.

There is a proper way of baking a cake, tying one’s shoes and sewing a button.

There are proper ways for making anything, but there are also other ways: shortcuts or detours. In those winding roads we slow down our pace and enjoy the scenery. We might have to unexpectedly stop if a rabbit, or a hitchhiker, crosses our path.

There is pleasure and pride in making things the proper way, in becoming a master, but there is joy and poetry in taking the gravel road that crosses the woods.

Paulina Mellado (1986) is a Chilean Artist based in Santiago, CL. She holds a BFA from Universidad de Chile, Santiago, CL, and a MFA from AKV St. Joost, Den Bosch, NL.

Through the use of materials that that refer both to everyday life and craft making her playful installations and sculptures deal with our difficult relation to nature and its many unresolved mysteries. Her work has been exhibited in different venues around the globe such as: LOCAL, Santiago, CL, Tribschenhorn, Luzern, CH, Club Solo, Breda, NL, XS Gallery, Santiago, CL, Loods 12, Wetteren, BE, among others. She has participated in diverse residency programs such as: AiR Sandnes, Sandnes, NO, BilbaoArte, Bilbao, Spain, Mustarinda, Hyrynsalmi, Finland, Kaus Australis, Rotterdam, the Netherlands among others.
