Pressemeddelelse, januar 2019

Mange hilsner,
Arrangørgruppen.

English:

Dear art colleagues.

The cuts in the cultural sector have not decreased since we last met. Recently, the discussion about artist wages has focused on artists' precarious working conditions. In that light, we are now inviting you to “The Final Exhibition” again so that we can gather and create a dialogue with our works.

The first exhibition took place in August 2017 and started in connection to cuts in the art academies in Denmark and the two art academies: Malmö Art Academy and Funen Art Academy who were facing closure. Over 100 artists and students participated as part of an uncensored open call. The title “The Final Exhibition” played on the image of a strained economy and a last great effort from the artists.

Through the exhibition, we want to create a dialogue among artists and provide a breeding ground for future collaboration. The exhibition is an opportunity to meet colleagues coming from different countries and representing different artistic expressions. We want to create a room where established artists as well as newly educated artists and art students can exhibit side by side. We have provided a framework for the exhibition, but it should only be seen as a proposal, where you are more than welcome to bring your ideas, depending on how much you want to engage in the exhibition as a whole.

The exhibition is uncensored, but we have a few requirements:

  • You must be a visual artist or work professionally with the subject.

  • You must sign up before the 20th of January via the link below.

  • You must send information about your contribution by the 1st of March via the link below.

Your work doesn’t have to deal with the theme of artists’ working conditions. You are free to make work about any subject you'd like. The exhibition will take place in week 21, as we aim to become part of the CPH Art Week. We are in contact with them and are awaiting clarification. The same goes for the premises. We are currently in dialogue with ATP and have like last time been allowed to exhibit in one of their buildings. We have received 3 options, but the final decision is not ours:

  • Either H.C. Andersens Boulevard 27, 1553 Copenhagen.

  • Or Axel Towers, Axeltorv 2, 1609.

  • Or Amaliegade 43, 1256 Copenhagen.

The exhibition is organized on a voluntary basis, and we can only offer a room to exhibit in. Presently there is no money. During our last exhibition, however, there were several of the artists who sold works to The Danish Art Foundation. We, the organizers of the exhibition, do not get any profit either.

Who are we?
We are the visual artists: Svend Bager, Emil Linnet, Pernille Kragh, Filip Vest and Lea Momberg. Together we are a group of artists who try to create a scene for new Danish art. At the same time, we are aiming to create a dialogue with the more established art world.

Hope you want to participate.

Yours sincerely,
the organizer group.
