Press Release, September 2018

Body Landscapes
Migrant Performance Art Festival in Copenhagen

From the 8th to the 11th of October, Union KBH will host the 3rd edition of the performance art festival, Body Landscapes. This year, we will welcome seven performance artists that will create independent works around ideas about migration, memory and identity.

The line up includes Mark Harvey (New Zealand), Luna Acosta Tobón (Colombia), Sung Nam Han (Japan), Annabel Strange (UK), Ignacio Perez Perez (Venezuela-Finland), Vala T. Foltyn (Poland) and Victor Valqui (Peru/Denmark). Each artist will make a performance and give a lecture about their creative process.

We believe in knowledge exchange as an essential part of the process of creating new perspectives. Therefore, we always emphasise the place of workshops on our program. This year artists Luna Acosta and Mark Harvey will each lead a workshop on respectively basic electronics applied to textile and performance art. As we want to explore new dynamics of approaching performance art, we work on creating a network of artists that are interested in sharing their individual experiences and perspectives. Thus, we create a platform for exchanging knowledge between disciplines and countries. Copenhagen is the axis and meeting point of these experiences.

Through our international collaboration, we want to address the particularities of our contexts and imagine the development of a more equalitarian society. We want to create stronger connections and cultural exchanges, and in this way, improve our understanding of the diversity of the human experience.

The live performances and artist talks are free. You can buy tickets for the workshops here.
